Death of Facebook

laying facebook to restDeath of Facebook. Facebook is so deeply imprinted into out psychology, and to many its no longer regarded as a social network web site but more an extension (or more aptly) a replacement to our social interaction. Gone are the face-to-face conversations about interests, news and gossip, instead a towering mass of status updates, of ‘Likes’, and anti-social self-depressing banal “chat”, most of which is never conveyed verbally given the chance.

Many people have asked me why I have left Facebook, my answer to them is that in truth there is no why, I made a choice, I simply saw it as unsubscribing to an unwanted web service and nothing more - but this in itself is highly liberating because, as mentioned earlier, Facebook is no longer a web service, its became (or taken over) part of our lives - our ability to socialise, to talk.

For those who wish to enjoy any news, comments, pictures or discussion I encounter on my web travels, these all shall now be posted here - my personal bit of space.
